Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
Over time the muscles in our faces pull on our skin resulting in natural lines and wrinkles. This causes the appearance of crow’s feet and frown lines, which is aging. Anti-wrinkle treatment is a non-surgical approach to turn back the clock and provide a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Botulinum toxin type A (often referred to as Botox®) relaxes the muscles responsible for frowning and crow’s feet thus reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
It is a quick and painless simple injection with a fast recovery time. Mr Duncan’s aim is to create a natural look to soften and reduce ageing frown lines and wrinkles. Following consultation, he will listen to your concerns and he will cater the procedure on an individual basis.
How long do the results last?
Botulinum toxin treatment generally has full effect for approximately 3 months at which point it will start to wear off and you may notice the fine lines and wrinkles recurring. Initially, it is advised to have treatments at least 3-4 months apart to give the best long lasting results.
Dermal Fillers
Throughout life we naturally lose the volume in our faces. By the age of 35 we have, on average, lost 10% of the fat in our faces and will continue to lose an additional 5-10% every 5-10 years thereafter. This loss of volume causes an aged appearance and exacerbates the appearance of lines.
Dermal fillers can be injected underneath the skin of your face and lips to replace the lost volume, smooth lines and improve your facial contour thus rewinding time and giving a more youthful appearance. There are different types of filler and Mr Duncan will advise you on the best one for you. Many contain hyaluronic acid, which will stimulate your naturally occurring collagen and elastin thus prolonging results.
How long do the results last?
How long the results last for is dependent upon the type of filler used. Generally, the results can be expected to last 12-18 months.
Is it painful?
These procedures can be carried out with local anaesthetic cream. The methods used by Mr Duncan cause very little discomfort and often anaesthetic is not required. There is usually little or no pain following the treatment.
Recovery
Sometimes the treatments can cause bruising but often this is not the case. On the day of the procedure there can be some redness and minimal swelling, but this disappears in a day or so. The effects can be seen in approximately 1 week. Mr Duncan will provide you with specific written instructions following the procedure. Generally he advises no facial treatments or exercise within 24 hours of treatment.
How long will the treatments take?
They are very quick procedures and it usually takes no more than 45 minutes. Following consultation, the treatment only takes one visit.
